I am Kristi, a Registered Nurse and Holistic Health Coach who helps women stop stress eating.
I define stress eating as eating in a response to any emotion that stresses the body, such as anxiety, overwhelm, boredom, tiredness (due to thoughts), irritation, frustration or worry. Or eating in response to a phsyiological stressor in the body, such as blood sugar dysregulation, dehydration, tiredness (due to insufficient sleep), or hormones.
I also support women with weight loss, but first I want to clarify what I do NOT support. I do NOT support weight loss that is driven by self hate, eating as few calories as possible, over exercising or having to “earn or burn calories.” Also, I do not support quick fixes, avoiding emotions, relying on will power, obsessively weighing yourself or letting the scale dictate how you feel about yourself.
I DO support weight loss that is fueled with body respect, eating adequate calories to fuel your body for the life you live, and exercising as a way to create energy and/or a tool for mental wellness. Also, I support changes that will help create long term results, learning to allow emotions (instead of using food to avoid them), and developing a healthy relationship with the scale.
When it comes to weight loss, I believe you probably are an expert at the nutrition part, but as you know, losing weight is “all about the food, and nothing at all about the food.” I am a RN and Holistic Health Coach, but not a RD so I help mostly with the non-food part, which I believe is where the magic and transformation happens. I will empower you with the tools you need to help manage your emotions and physiological stressors so that food is no longer an issue or your #1 coping tool. There is nothing wrong with you if you “overeat” or “stress eat.” In fact, it is very human of you; however, if you want to different results in your life, then you simply just need to learn some new tools.
